EMDR and NLP

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy that encourages the client to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements or tapping), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. EMDR therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms.

“I am able to talk about my feelings more openly without the fear of being judged.”

After having the support and being able to talk about long standing issues I have had. I have been working on how I feel about myself and I feel a lot more positive than I was prior to having the support.”

“This has happened by expressing my feelings and talking about them. My therapist also listened to me and gave me guidance, which made sense to me.”

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) helps therapy by reshaping thoughts, behaviours, and communication patterns, improving confidence, reducing anxiety, and enhancing emotional well-being through cognitive and linguistic techniques. NLP helps trauma by reframing memories, reducing emotional distress, and rewiring thought patterns, promoting healing, resilience, and emotional regulation for long-term recovery.  Using techniques like the Rewind Technique – Dissociation (Visual-Kinaesthetic Dissociation, VKD)helps clients detach from traumatic memories by visualising them as distant, faded, or on a screen.  Or the “Control Room of the Mind” helps clients turn up or down emotions or conflict.

These are just a few of the NLP techniques we use to help process trauma, regulate emotions or improve confidence and self awareness.

NLP helps change unhelpful thoughts, feelings, and behaviours by using language to reframe how we think and respond.
